How to see what machines are on your network?

• find out your IP address
• turn it into subnet mask form (if the last digit varies and there are 256 or 2 to the 8 possibilities on your network, write /24). So given my IP is 192.168.2.107 it becomes 192.168.2.0/24
• ask nmap to scan the subnet

$ nmap 192.168.100.0/24
