I got rid of a method in Product called available. To check that I had not broken anything I grepped through the app directory and, seeing nothing, figured my job was done safely.

Not so: I had used it in the config/sitemap.rb This was a bad idea, in that you don't expect there to be domain logic in the config dir of a Rails application.

Lesson

• Narrowly, don't put domain logic code in the config dir.
• At the very most, call a service, such that the only thing you need to search for outside of app would be the ServiceName.call
• More generally, respect the conventions and expectations created by folder names.
